Starting tomorrow, global electronic sensation Juno Reactor brings living Japanese rock legend SUGIZO to Mexico, followed by concerts in North America. We do all the travel and visa arrangements for the South African contingent which includes the trio of Mandla Lande, Simphiwe Matole and Michael Ludongo from Amampondo, as well as Mabi Thobejane from Johannesburg.
Earlier this year, Juno Reactor, leaders of the electronic scene responsible for soundtracks to movies such as The Matrix, released their seventh studio album Gods & Monsters, which marked Sugizo’s induction into the collaborative ensemble. Following their recent European tour, the band will play two shows in Mexico before embarking on their U.S. leg, marking the first time Juno Reactor has toured the U.S. in seven years.
No stranger to the fusion of electronica with global and classical elements, Sugizo’s 11 year solo career has produced a respectably varied avante-garde catalog of music, the best of which was compiled and remastered on Sugizo’s July 2008 release Cosmoscape. Prior to his solo work, Sugizo served as songwriter and lead guitarist for the legendary Japanese rock outfit LUNA SEA since the band’s formation in 1989 as leaders of the Japanese rock industry and pioneers of the scene.
Sugizo will join Ben Watkins and Juno Reactor’s multi-ethnic live show that will break boundaries and open minds with their pulsing, tribal world of sonic awareness. Besides Sugizo, the U.S. shows will include Amampondo, our very own South African percussive ensemble with top drummer and percussionist Mabi Thobejane, as well as ex-Asian Dub Foundation vocalist Ghetto Priest, American drummer Greg Ellis and UK vocalist, Tamsyn Alexander.
Sugizo is one of the founding fathers of the Japanese rock movement. With his band, LUNA SEA, Sugizo paved the way for generations of bands to follow in a career that has spanned nearly twenty years. LUNA SEA has sold millions of albums worldwide, and is one of Japan’s most influential bands of all time.
Juno Reactor has been in the major forefront of electronic music for over a decade and a half. In addition to lending their music to a multitude of films, videogames and commercials over the years, as well as being involved in providing the score for movies such as The Matrix, Juno Reactor headlined Japan’s massive Fuji Rock Festival in 2007.
Juno Reactor is a culture clash of sonic cultures that defy the word, “fusion.” Their shows feature incantations, chants, vocals, lighting, mesmerizing visualizations, and raw live action. So here are the dates they will be appearing in the America’s:

I covered the show in San Francisco and man, these guys were awesome. Everyone was impressive but it was Amampondo, Mabi and Sugizo who really stood out.
