Happy 90th birthday Madiba!

Nelson Mandela is 90I have tried to come up with all kinds of clever quotes and interesting facts about the man that I, and many others, see as the father of this nation, but there is nothing that can really honour Madiba other than taking a life-long look at who he has been for us, the people of South Africa, and a birthday post is not the place.

All words pale when taking into account how his life has been dedicated to me, and my family. Dedicated to making our lives better, by providing us with a vision, and an environment in which we can be free, where I can be me, in a country freed from the shackles of a horrible past. Taking TSiBA to the new Milestone Studios

TSiBAThe last month has seen two more TSiBA students, Thembelani Ginini & Lavern Beneke coming to visit our offices as part of their work experience/internship project. Though we are a small office, I really felt that we offered an alternative option to these students, as our business is somewhat unusual and though we work mostly with corporate clients, we aren’t really main-stream.

Levern & Angie @ Milestone Studios So the last 2 weeks we’ve had Lavern with us, as she really wanted to find out more about the South African music business and some of the behind the scenes workings that an agency goes through. She also got to work through our database presentation files, and today I took her and Angie (seen left) through to the brand spanking new Milestone Studios in town for a little tour. Which is what I am dedicating this ‘feeling fresh’ post to… summer. And who better to represent summer, and all its funky loving and fun and good things in life, than Iridium Project and a cool little video they sent me recently. Continue reading ‘Feeling fresh! Going to the CCMA - tips for employers

CCMA LogoI had mentioned some time ago that we were called to appear at a CCMA hearing, and I had promised to give some more information about this process. It’s something that many employers go through, large or small, and though it is pretty daunting the first time, I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised with the way that it all ran, and how it ended.

I think that the most important thing to remember is that before even considering appearing before a Commissioner, is that you have to have all your ducks in a row (isn’t that expression also used for target practice?) and be sure that you are confident that the correct procedure was followed long before even arriving to state your case.
