I just had to throw in a little extra information that I am really chuffed about.
A few months ago I thanked YouTube for all those hits, because although I’ve got 145 videos on the site – apart from my very proud association with Zoopy and MyVideo – by being allowed to put them out there I do feel that the artists get lots of extra exposure.
Last week I finally passed the one million views mark! And I am chuffed! We’re currently flying at 1 010 410…
It’s a wonderful Friday here in Cape Town, but then our fireplace in the office is keeping the chilly weather nicely at bay while we get ready for the weekend ahead.
It’s been another interesting week, with lots of organizing and behind the scenes preparation for our community projects, preparing for a CCMA hearing on Monday (as they say, its sub judicae, and so as soon as it’s all over I’ll tell you more!) and meeting with local Youth organizations from Du Noon where we would like to offer assistance. We’ve also had Thembalani, a student from TSiBA, here with us this week on a two-week internship, and after a few days of assisting us, we are going to be helping him set up his own event in Khayalitsha later in the year. I was going to write a post last week with the awesome new music video by Goldfish, but then we got caught up in our interactions with our local community projects, and of course just general days of work!
But then as today is also Lenny’s birthday, and I was sent a link to a video of Arno Carstens recording a new track at a studio in Spain, AND I wanted to feature a brand new group, so I thought well hell – lets celebrate with three video’s for the occasion! Um, that its Lenny’s birthday that is… and of course because the Goldfish is so cool… and well, I suppose we better add that its good to know that we can expect a new Arno album soon… and that he is also part of the new group BhellTower! I received the following press release via Vusi Mahlasela as his excitement must be obvious; representing South Africa at London’s Hyde Park celebration of ex-President Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday, and sadly, also his final official public engagement.
It is still such a beautiful thing – the way the world loves South Africa’s favourite father, ex-President Nelson Mandela. The power of his presence, and timelessness of his message, inspires and motivates people all over the world to want to add their voices to his, in search of solutions for poverty, finding peaceful solutions to global problems, and facing up to the fact that HIV is a world crisis. And as we say so often – what better way than to reach out with music! Continue reading ‘Artists at Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday incl. Vusi Mahlasela & Johnny Clegg’
It’s always invigorating updating the website, adding artists, and re-looking through the information and music that is sent to us by artists. It’s refreshing!
We do get sent a lot of information, daily, but then we seek it out because nothing is set in stone in the music and entertainment industry. For every artist there is that establishes themselves on the market there are 100 who are dreaming of pulling themselves to the same level, or even further ahead. So sometimes we focus on them, other times we remember those artists that have given us so much joy in the past. So here is some more info on the new, and the old!
