At the end of 2007 we came across what must be one of South Africa’s hottest new Urban Hip Hop groups, Koldproduk. You should be hearing them everywhere now, because these boys (and girl) are hot!
Koldproduk started when Kaspa and Moki-Sage met while studying architecture in KwaZulu Natal – not a bunch a doffies in other words! They hooked up with T*Spark and Whispa, and over a 6-year period formulated a plan that has just seen (Friday 01 Feb) You, you and you become their third national #1 hit single off their debut album All Under Heaven (Uproot Records)!
Koldproduk is slick. Their material is world-class; their image is super cool and to top it all off, these guys are organised! But then, knowing how they came about, everything seems to be going according to that plan! They are reaching for the stars!
Its Urban Hip Hop at its hottest, and the fan-base that they are building has voted Koldproduk Best Hip-Hop Group and their music video for Hush Best Music Video on the Go Urban Awards! And I am sure, just as you should be, that it isn’t going to end there either!
Koldproduk’s debut CD, All Under Heaven, took 16 months to produce, because Kaspa says they are perfectionists, and wanted to take their time to get it right. Never mind that they were still getting their degrees, and so had to work on it after hours. Music was their hobby, but they have now really announced their arrival – and listening to the big sound of Lessallgetdown and the sexy Watching You (#1 on Mr Prices Red Cap Radio & currently #9 on Highveld Stereo 94.7) you can just see big things coming.
Go through to their Press Kit for sound clips, and I can definitely recommend the Hush video as one of the more funky vid’s to have been produced in South Africa.
Koldproduk is here to stay; with music that is fresh and funky; with an image that is hip and cool; and best of all, it’s African. And proudly so. No matter where its heard.
Koldproduk is looking to make their debut in Cape Town in the near future, and I will hopefully be able to bring you that news, about where and when, as soon as it comes in. In the meantime, do yourself a favour and get the CD.
I have added a clip showing a little more about who the group is, and as they have focused energy on the Ikageng Itireleng Aids Ministry in Johannesburg, I feel it’s a good litmus of their maturity and spirit of ubuntu. Enjoy. And be inspired.

I met JC aka Whispa through iCommons, where he won the AfroBrazillian remix competition last year. These guys live their message and their music. Well deserved win for them.
These guys rock and I can’t believe they’re local…. they are so humble and down to earth they deserve superstardom
Trust me: i know. I was blown away when i saw the video, and it’s good 2know that SA can produce the quality that Koldproduk delivered on their album.
I already have All Under Heaven [fav track Rise Up], plus a hoodie and all i want is a a full collection of their merchandise - where can i get it?
Loving my radio these days, kk!
Rock on!
Wow!
Awesome work by some awesomely talented guys! They really are making an impression on the music scene and anyone that good-looking needs to gig and be more visible.
Cape Town’s waiting for you and we already love the album [fav also Rise up, Watching you & Cape to Cairo].
Rise Up koldproduk and good luck in 2008!

Oh snap. I know JC/Whispa from the ccMixter thing too. So versatile with compositions and beats-I think he should feature more in interviews and shows-THIS is HOW WE RIDE BABY!!. This group is fresh and different, been to a few performances and their on point in terms of flow, rhymes and all that.. How Kaspa and Moki-Sage can switch from Hip-Hop, Ragga, and some rnb for the ladies- Who else is doing that..? Please buy this album.. I did, and no regrets.
Stay up KP
Cape Town to JHB u runnin tings

Wow! Excellent, heard their songs on the radio but thought it was fort minor or some international group. Does anyone know where I can get an album?
SA music has been turned on it’s head!
It’s incredible all the good things ppl say about koldproduk, and i think it’s coz the album is so rich that everyone who listens to it is able to draw something from it.
Well done, and don’t stop!
It’s not very often that you come across talent that not only impresses you but blows you away.
When i first saw koldproduk at the Durban july i ran to Musica megastore at Gateway and listened to the album - amazing.
I don’t generally like rap, and am an occasional listener, but i am a fan now and will be waiting to check you out when you guys return to Durban.
And i am rising up…
I absolutely love koldproduk’s music!!
I have 3 0r 4 ringtones and i’ve assigend them to different callers so that i get a ‘rotation’ of your music. I can’t get enough of it and can’t wait to get my hands on one of those hot hoodies.
Loving it!
Hey you!
Finally we can catch the boys live again! Koldproduk will be performing on Wednesday nights from now on at Sudada lounge in sandton starting on Feb 27.
The “Uproot Hip-House Underground Events” promise to be the new mid-week weekend and with DJ Soosh on the turntables who will say no?
R60 gets you in and R40 if you wear a skirt, plus a free cocktail.
Now that’s what i wanna hear!
Moki its me, you’ve taken my breath away with your music….its like ebony and ivory the keys on a grand piano….u did it…
Hey, Don’t you think it’s funny that there are only good comments on this page, ahhh, I am South African, and I dig SA music but one thing I know is that South Africans never give too many props for nobody’s business. I think( and this is just a thought) the Kold Produk wrote these, if not Kold produK, then their moms. I met these Cats a while back too, and they were lyties who where copying they style from other MC’s( whoever wrote that they are typically SA, you need your head checked or listen to more hip hop) anyway point being they arnt this hot…. you all mad!
