I just had contact with Mike Hardy from Bed On Bricks, and am bloody chuffed that they are soon going to be listed on our site – definitely one of the funkiest groups from Cape Town!
We’ve been wearing the Humanarium CD so thin, playing it in the car on long drives, short drives, hell, even when we’re standing still! We have played it to locals, to our overseas friends, hell, we’ve even played it to our enemies (not that we have many of those…) in the name of reconciliation; and the reaction is always the same: “Wow!” Continue reading ‘For f**k sake, there goes another good song!’
Sometimes people ask “Why should I book my Music and Entertainment through a booking agency?” – and the following little story is one of the main reasons that I can offer as explanation!
I do need to stress that the artist involved in this story, Elana Afrika, has to be excused because she has a hectic schedule and has been running around like a headless (very sexy) chicken for the last week, and so cannot be blamed for the extra stress she caused herself this afternoon. Foto Na Dans is carving its name into the South African rock culture by being true to their ambitions of wanting to create Afrikaans Rock that is not only original but bloody hot! To think that their debut album, Intervensie, is such a slick production, with hot photography, and classic tracks, it’s an exciting trip that we should all take note of!

And she says it was one hell of a party! Continue reading ‘Foto Na Dans rock Sewende Laan’
Arno Carstens is going to be appearing on stage with some of South Africa’s greatest jazz names at the Johannesburg Civic Theatre as part of the showcase of Don Laka and Friends putting showcasing Don’s new album Invitation. Also featured will be Gloria Bosman and Judith Sephuma… so what is Arno doing with all these Jazzmeisters?
Well, its very lekka knowing that this is happening because I can confidently say to everyone who is going to be there that this is going to be funky stuff – I can say that, because last year we got Arno and Gloria (here’s their rehearsal video) to perform together at the massive 2000 pax Santam event held at Lourensford Wine Estate. Continue reading ‘Arno Carstens does all that Jazz’
The philosophy of ubuntu, described by Archbishop Desmond Tutu as “part of the gift that Africa is going to give to the world” should be the driving force of how we as South Africans conduct our business.
Its not easy running your own business successfully and we’ve seen a number of agencies fall by the way side in our journey since 1996. I think that what has kept us going has been a sense of knowing that as long as we stay honest and fair, to both out clients and our artists, our reputation for being passionate would be the key factor in ensuring that we grow, doing more and more exciting projects, and reaching a far wider audience through our dedication to music and entertainment.
